The story so far…
Each for their own reasons, our adventurers left their homelands and set off to find their place in the world. Some to right some great wrong, and others in search of fame, fortune, and power. As fate would have it, these individuals would meet a few days journey outside the old human city of Sebecea. Recognizing each other’s abilities, they choose the mutually beneficial path of cooperation and headed to the city together.
Upon entering Sebecea, a xenophobic human settlement and the last remnants of an old kingdom, the adventurers were conscripted by the local militia to assist in rescuing citizens of the town that had been kidnapped by a demonic cult that had established itself in an ancient tower to the southwest of the city. Feeling obligated (and hoping for rewards), they agreed and set out. The party was successful, but in freeing the citizens they discovered the local noble’s family were in fact leaders of the cult. By confronting the noble lord the party was able to put a stop the the cults plans, but they unfortunately also brought about great instability in the city. Fearing the reprecussions for killing the noble family the party set out in the dead of night towards the city of guilds, Bridgetown.
Bridgetown was old and famous in the region, and far enough from Sebecea so that the party could begin again without news of their exploits catching up to them. On the way to Bridgetown the party split; the dragonborn paladin went insane due to the horrors of the tower and the dwarf fighter chose to take his share of the loot and retire early. After finally arriving in Bridgetown, the party quickly incorporated and formed their own guild, Mjöllnir. As an officially recognized guild of the city, the party could begin taking on jobs without having to worry about facing any repercussions from the larger guilds.
For their first bit of work, Mjöllnir chose to help a local bartender by protecting his shipment of wheat and barley from a local farm. On their way to the farm the wagon was attacked by the Bloodfist Bandits, the local ruffians. After promptly defeating them, the party quickly reached the farmstead where they were to pick up the shipment. However, as they began to approach the farms, they’ve quickly realized not all is well.
